I always strive to produce beautiful, evocative pictures that stand the test of time. Emotive, storytelling wedding photography. My standard wedding photography collections always include a mix of both colour and black and white wedding photography, ensuring these are used to best effect to tell the story of the day. Colour often plays an important part in a wedding day so it’s great to highlight this in the pictures. However, there is something rather special about a collection of well crafted black and white wedding photographs.
My early inspiration (and indeed my current inspiration too) came from some of the famous world renown photojournalists of the 20th century. The likes of Elliott Erwitt, Bruce Davidson, Eve Arnold and the great Henri Cartier-Bresson to name but a few. These guys shot almost exclusively with black and white film. They told stories with their photography. Since black and white photography is very close to my heart, I offer a unique black and white wedding photography collection for a limited number of couples each year.

Producing striking black and white prints isn’t simply a case of taking a colour picture and converting it to black and white. It takes a different approach the moment the photograph was taken. With black and white photography I’m looking for shape, form, texture and light to guide the viewers eye through the various points of interest in the frame. It’s actually a tougher discipline than colour photography and one that requires a skilled eye.
